Application

Lyla has recently added sitting to her repertoire of tricks. You have to sit her up, get her started, lean her forward slightly, but then she'll stay that way for, oh, a couple seconds or so.

If you put Lyla on her stomach, she'll lift an arm until she flips over to her back. What's funny is that when she gets tired of sitting, she does the same thing. The bed is the only place to practice this. It's pretty hilarious to watch her sit there and then suddenly raise her arm until she flops over. Then she gets a look on her face like, "What the hell was that?"

As a teacher, I try to get my students to learn how to take a skill and apply it to different situations. But maybe it's not teaching as much as it's reminding.
