Puppies sniff each others' butts when they meet. Babies suck each others' fingers. This baby is Edy, who is a little older than Lyla. Lyla is offering her fingers to Edy perhaps to acknowledge that Edy is the alpha-baby.
That reminds me of the bookstore yesterday. I had Lyla front-facing in the Baby Bjorn and let her hold my finger, which she promptly shoved in her mouth. Does that mean she's the alpha in our relationship?

Maybe, but Edy is mobile and I think Lyla thought she was some sort of superhero. Anyway, if Lyla ever asserted herself as the alpha, Edy could monkey-climb all over her.
